27D Paralegal Specialist

About the role

The Army National Guard Paralegal Specialist assists judges, Army lawyers, and unit commanders with legal matters and judicial work. This position provides legal and administrative support in various areas including family law, international law, contract law, defense legal services, and judicial legal services.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal documents in courts-martial and other military justice matters
• Assist in legal affairs such as power of attorney, wills, and separation decrees
• Interview witnesses, research court decisions and Army regulations, process legal claims and appeals, and prepare records of hearings, investigations, courts-martial, and courts of inquiry

Requirements

• Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
• At least a junior in high school or have a high school diploma/GED certificate
• Between the ages of 17 and 35
• Pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards

Qualifications

Non-prior service candidates may earn between $200 and $250 per drill weekend, subject to change.

Skills

Ability to supervise those in a command, provide technical guidance to subordinates, maintain law/administrative library, monitor and review actions for accuracy.

Schedule

Basic Training: 10 weeks

Advanced Individual Training: 10 weeks
