NHS Ayrshire & Arran · House, NM · 4 days ago

About the role

Edinburgh City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) is undergoing transformative change to improve access to mental health and wellbeing support. Mental Health Nursing staff, Allied Health and Social Work professionals contribute to these improvements within the Thrive Welcome Teams. The teams deliver accessible, short-term mental health interventions to adults aged 18+ in Edinburgh, addressing needs such as depression, anxiety, self-harm, and suicidal ideation.

A multi-disciplinary, interagency approach is used: senior support workers and peer recovery practitioners are employed by third sector organisations, while mental health nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists come from statutory services. The teams utilise asset-based, solution-focused approaches and motivational interviewing, delivered in a trauma-aware and trauma-skilled way. Professional skills are applied to risk assessment and management, with liaison across wider mental health services where appropriate. People are supported to build self-agency and are linked to community services when suitable.

Requirements

  • Recognised registered professional qualification (e.g., mental health nursing, social work, occupational therapy)
  • Keen interest in working within an adult community mental health setting in Edinburgh
  • PVG Scheme membership/record for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult); if not a current member, an application to Disclosure Scotland must be made and deemed satisfactory before starting
  • Ability to work smartly with people to establish goals and identify how Thrive Welcome Team professionals and locally commissioned services can add value to recovery
  • Commitment to working as part of a diverse team, assisting and developing general service delivery while retaining professional identity and unique contribution
  • Positive, practical, hopeful, and solution-focused approach, with a belief in people's self-agency

Benefits

  • Commitment to continuing professional development, supervision, and student education
  • Wide range of training and development opportunities
  • Regular city-wide learning and reflection sessions across the four Thrive Welcome Teams
