About the role

The Assistant Coach, Volleyball position is available for multiple positions at Ashland High School. The position is temporary and involves teaching and coaching students interested in volleyball.

Responsibilities

• Holds or assists organized, supervised practice as the program requires.
• Teaches all of the skills necessary to participate in the sport.
• Teaches the strategies necessary to participate in the sport.
• Teaches the drills and exercises needed for developing strength, stamina, and speed in the sport.
• Aids in the development of seasonal goals and objectives and daily practice plans.
• Aids in the development of lines of communication with parents, officials, and booster clubs to promote the sport.
• Supervises locker room before and after practice, as required.
• Supervises bus trips, as required.
• Complies with all athletic association regulations, league rules, and District policies.
• Attends coaching clinics, as requested by building principal, athletic coordinator, or head coach.
• Fulfills specified standards, policies, and procedures of the building and District.
• Encourages student participation.
• Promotes the ethical values of athletics.
• Maintains a positive working relationship with the head coach, administration, other staff, and the community that enhances the sport.
• Aids in the proper care, maintenance, and security of facilities, equipment, and supplies from the first day of the season until the cycle of responsibility is completed.
• Promotes concept of sportsmanship.
• Develops positive health and safety standards for all athletes in the program.

Qualifications

• Passes the District's required online training by the District's assigned due-date.
• Certification: OSAA Coaches Education Program.
• Previous experience coaching in the sport and solid leadership skills are strongly desired.
• Valid first aid/CPR card is required.

Physical Demands

• Regularly communicates with others, including understanding and being understood.
• Moves between buildings, visiting sites throughout the district.
• Uses a variety of digital systems, software, and hardware.
• May require some travel outside the district.

Work Environment

• Exposure to wet or humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions.
• Exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
