The San Juan Unified School District is seeking a full-time elementary music teacher, including several special education classes.
About the role
Teach 40-minute elementary music classes, including several special education classes.
Responsibilities
- Teach music classes to students in grades K-8, including those with special needs.
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum standards.
- Collaborate with special education teachers and staff to provide support and accommodations for students with disabilities.
- Assist in planning and implementing extracurricular music activities.
Requirements
Candidates must be fully credentialed and internal employees to be placed on Column 5. External candidates can be placed on Column 4/Step 11.
- Valid California teaching credential
- Experience teaching elementary music
- Ability to work with diverse student populations, including those with special needs
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- Advanced degree in music education
- Experience working with special education students
- Experience with technology integration in the classroom
Benefits
For the 2026-27 school year, various opportunities for additional pay include:
- $5,000 - $14,000 annual stipends for hard-to-staff Special Education positions
- $2,000 annual stipends for the hard-to-staff positions of counselor, social worker, and teacher librarian
- $3,000 annual stipend for advanced degrees
- $1,000 - $4,500 annual stipends for various extra-curricular activities
Pay
$60,000 - $126,000 annually, depending on experience and credentials.

Schedule
Length of Work Year: Teacher (Elementary / Secondary), Middle School & K-8 Counselor / Teacher Librarian Calendar 2 (10 Months/Year, 186 Days/Year, 5 Days/Week, Professional Work Day)
