About the role

The Seattle Colleges are seeking innovative and dedicated faculty members to teach various levels of Math classes in a part-time capacity. Successful applicants will have the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, staff, and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and multicultural understanding in an urban environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality instruction using effective teaching strategies that support diverse student populations and promote student learning.
  • Audit and update course materials to ensure they are accessible to students in compliance with digital accessibility standards.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
  • Utilize appropriate educational technologies and communication tools to support teaching, learning, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Maintain and submit required documentation such as course information, academic credentials, and professional references as part of the application and employment process.

Requirements

  • A Master's Degree or PhD in the field or related field from an accredited institution.
  • A demonstrated commitment to working within a college community that is diverse and serves students from a broad spectrum of socioeconomic and academic backgrounds.
  • Innovative teaching methods including the use of technology and collaborative learning.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with others in a professional setting.

Qualifications

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a regular basis. The employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

Skills

An understanding of the goals and role of the community college. Demonstrated ability and commitment to teach multiple levels of on the topic of study. Innovative teaching methods including the use of technology and collaborative learning. The ability to work collaboratively with others in a professional setting.

Benefits

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-Seattle. The salary range for part-time faculty is (generally P1: A1- E7): $7,703 - $11,537.33 (for a 5-credit single-class workload per quarter).

Pay

The target start rate of pay is $7,703 - $8,912 (for a 5-credit single-class workload per quarter) A1-C3.

Schedule

This position is part-time and specific teaching assignments will be dependent on the instructor's background, scheduling, and available courses. Candidates may be asked to teach in a variety of formats such as in-class, hybrid, online, and varied class times including days, evenings, and weekends according to program needs.
