26-27 NY Director of School Operations

About the role

Achievement First is seeking a Director of School Operations to join our team. Reporting to the Regional Director of Operations and the school principal, this role oversees all operational aspects of the school, relieving the principal of non-instructional tasks.

Responsibilities

• Serves as thought partner and “#2” to the principal; collaborates on school priorities and decisions; participates in strategy setting
• Manages and leads the school operations team, ensuring they meet annual goals
• Develops and coaches the operations team
• Owns the school budget, manages finances, and allocates resources
• Manages human resources, including leaves of absence, accommodations, and staff time
• Ensures compliance with employment laws and policies
• Oversees school safety, facilities, and general administration
• Engages families and communicates regularly with them

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year institution; Master's Degree preferred
• Minimum 3 years of operations management experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
• Experience managing cross-functional teams
• Belief in the Achievement First mission and educational model
• Comfort with financial oversight and budgetary tracking
• Willingness to work autonomously, collaboratively, or under senior staff direction
• Acute attention to detail and strategic thinking
• Flexible and able to multitask in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment
• Maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and a “whatever it takes” disposition
