About the role
Average daily hours are 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM. The position is located in a public school setting.
Responsibilities
- Initiate/Participate in categorical eligibility meetings as an expert in a category of IDEA-BPL 101-746.
- Ensure that each child has a current IEP (Individual Education Plan) with the required signatures.
- Maintain and update IEPs on an annual basis.
- Create and maintain a special education file containing teacher assessments, IEPs, psychological evaluations, and pertinent medical information.
- Provide advice on special education issues to the building principal.
- Offer in-service sessions to regular education staff on classroom inclusion, intervention, and modification techniques.
- Collaborate with regular education staff to address classroom expectations and dynamics.
- Assist students with prescribed medication, assist with personal hygiene, and adapt food and feeding assistance as needed.
- Communicate with parents and staff to enhance the learning process and growth of students.
- Perform teaching and reporting requirements as per state and federal programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or equivalent.
- Current Oklahoma Certificate as a Special Education Teacher.
- Knowledge of English language, mathematics, and ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to perform essential job functions such as lifting, moving, and assisting students.
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.

$50,000 - $60,000 annually based on experience and qualifications.
