About the role

This position serves as a paraprofessional in Norman Public Schools, assisting teachers and supervising students.

Responsibilities

• Aid in instruction and activities as directed by the teacher.
• Supervise students in various settings including instructional, off-campus, and non-instructional activities.
• Serve as the primary contact for substitute teachers.
• Assist with student behavior management and provide necessary support.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe classroom environment.
• Operate various equipment and assist with obtaining supplies.
• Compile and send home student work and communicate with parents.
• Maintain strict confidentiality.

Requirements

• Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (minimum of 48 hours of college coursework), obtained an associate's degree (or higher), or passed the WorkKeys, ParaPro, or Oklahoma General Education Test (OGET).
• Oklahoma Special Education Paraprofessional Certificate required, or willingness to obtain within 120 days of employment.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous work or volunteer experience with children, teenagers, or clerical duties preferred.
