About the role

This position serves as a paraprofessional in Norman Public Schools, assisting with instruction and various administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

• Aid in instruction and activities as directed by the teacher.
• Supervise students in various settings and activities.
• Serve as the main point of contact for substitute teachers.
• Assist with student behavior management and provide necessary assistance.
• Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe classroom environment.
• Operate various equipment and assist with obtaining supplies.
• Compile and send home student work and communicate with parents.
• Ensure strict confidentiality at all times.

Requirements

• Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (minimum of 48 hours of college coursework), obtained an associate's degree (or higher), or passed the WorkKeys, ParaPro, or Oklahoma General Education Test (OGET).
• Oklahoma Special Education Paraprofessional Certificate required or willingness to obtain within 120 days of employment.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous work or volunteer experience with children, teenagers, or clerical duties preferred.
