About the role

Counselor Pool - Secondary reports to the Principal. Qualified candidates must hold valid teaching certification and a Master's degree in Counseling with Texas School Counseling Certification. Key responsibilities include coordinating financial aid initiatives, planning college and career experiences, and maintaining confidentiality of student records.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel and guide students on education plans and career awareness
  • Assist teachers in delivering CCMR-related curriculum
  • Manage scholarships and assist students with applications
  • Plan and provide college and career-based enrichments and support programs
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the community
  • Maintain a professional workspace and work collaboratively with others
  • Support the district’s vision, mission, and goals
  • Contribute to the development of campus CCMR documents and track college acceptances
  • Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant people
  • Administer and interpret results of interest inventories and CCMR-related assessments
  • Support the goals and objectives of the district, campus, and counseling department

Requirements

Valid teacher certification, Master's Degree in Counseling, and Texas School Counseling Certification are required. Special knowledge and skills include presenting information in various settings, knowledge of college admission and testing requirements, financial aid, career and military preparation, strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in using district's student management systems and technology platforms.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have a Master's Degree in Counseling and Texas School Counseling Certification. Prior experience in a similar role is preferred but not required.

  • Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations
  • Knowledgeable about college admission and testing requirements
  • Knowledgeable about Financial Aid, including FAFSA and TAFSA
  • Knowledgeable of Career and Military preparation
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in using the district's student management systems and technology platforms

Benefits

The District contributes $330 monthly to the cost of the employee-only health insurance, which is $105 more than the state-required amount of $225/month. All employees in this position receive free treatment at any Next Level Urgent Care.

Pay

Salary determined by job-like experience. Midpoints are $82,711 (JH) and $84,758 (HS).

Schedule

Full-time contract positions lasting 11 months (JH) or 207 days (HS).
