About the role
The 26/27 Counselor Pool serves under the supervision of the Principal. This position requires valid teacher certification and a Master's Degree in Counseling with Texas School Counseling Certification.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the school guidance curriculum to enhance students' interpersonal and intrapersonal effectiveness, personal health and safety, post-secondary planning, and other developmental needs.
- Collaborate with staff, parents, and the community to identify and address student needs through the guidance curriculum.
- Create and deliver engaging, technology-enhanced guidance lessons to diverse student populations.
- Respond to and support students in crisis situations, utilizing appropriate prevention and intervention strategies.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive school environment by collaborating with district staff and external partners.
- Provide individual and small group counseling, consultation, and referrals as needed.
- Serve as a resource for student and family issues, advocating for equitable access to courses and programs.
- Conduct annual program audits and participate in school improvement planning.
- Train and consult with parents and staff to promote student development.
- Compile and maintain all necessary reports and documents.
- Comply with legal, ethical, and professional standards for school counselors.
Qualifications
- Valid teacher certification
- Master's Degree in Counseling and Texas School Counseling Certification
- Special knowledge and skills in presenting information, working with diverse populations, and using technology tools
- Organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of college admission and testing requirements, financial aid, and career/military preparation
- Ability to use district's student management systems and technology platforms
Benefits
The District provides $330 monthly towards the cost of employee-only health insurance, which exceeds the state-required amount by $105. Employees also receive free treatment at Next Level Urgent Care.
Pay
$82,711 salary determined by job-like experience.
Schedule
Full-time, 11-month/202 days contract.
