26-27 AY Temporary Faculty Pool (Lecturer) - Chemistry & Biochemistry
About the role
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at California State University, Fresno offers four rigorous degree programs and prepares students for various career paths. We seek candidates qualified to teach a variety of chemistry and biochemistry courses.
Responsibilities
- Teach chemistry and biochemistry courses, including general chemistry, analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, physical chemistry, and courses at the intersection of chemistry and biochemistry.
- Prepare and deliver lectures, conduct labs, assign and grade homework, quizzes, and exams.
- Offer classes as scheduled throughout the semester, adhering to the mode of instruction (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).
Requirements
Appointments are contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the Order of Work in the collective bargaining agreement. Positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with diverse students and colleagues.
- Experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Skills
Strong teaching skills, ability to implement high impact practices, and proficiency in using technology to enhance learning.
Benefits
Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience within the salary range placement. The salary range for Temporary Faculty with a Master's degree is $5,507-6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs).
Pay
Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. Actual monthly salary will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per an academic term.
Schedule
Positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Appointees may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice.

Application Procedures
A review of applications continues on a rolling basis as teaching positions open. Review may begin as early June 15th, 2026 for a Fall 2026 assignment. Deadline is July 1st, 2026 to be fully considered for Fall 2026 hiring. Deadline for Spring 2027 is October 31, 2026.
