26-27 AVID Student Coach Tutor

Sun Prairie Area School District · Sun Prairie, WI · 1 mo ago
OTHR$16/hrFull-time

Starting wage: $16 per hour

About the role

AVID academic student coaches serve as small group, instructional facilitators for 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students participating in the AVID elective programming in the Sun Prairie Area School District. AVID is a structured preparatory system designed to promote college eligibility and success. In the AVID elective course, students receive additional academic, social, and emotional support to help them succeed in their rigorous courses and guide them on a path to college and career success.

AVID academic student coaches support AVID tutorials during the elective class by facilitating a collaborative environment in which students use an inquiry process to address points of confusion from their content classes. Coaches must be a junior or senior and have a study hall that runs at the same time as an AVID 7, 8, or 9 elective course. One day a week, coaches report to their assigned AVID classroom on a predetermined date (Tuesday or Friday at the middle schools and Wednesday or Thursday at the high schools) instead of their study hall. On days tutorials are not running, students will report to their assigned study hall.

All applicants are eligible to coach AVID 9 students in their current high school. Students with first or fourth block study hall can also request to coach AVID 7 or 8 at a middle school.
