About the Role

The Directorate of Pharmacy provides medicines leadership across all sectors of NHS Lanarkshire, including medicines supply and logistics, pharmaceutical care, medicines governance, and direct patient care in communities, primary, and secondary care. This role plays a key role in the collection, analysis, presentation, and interpretation of data to support the information needs of the Directorate of Pharmacy. You will support NHS Lanarkshire’s values of fairness, respect, quality, and working together through appropriate behaviours and attitudes.

As a member of the health intelligence team, you will:

  • Provide input into Directorate work in analysis and interpretation of data to guide stakeholders' decision-making.
  • Compile, clean, manage, analyse, present, and interpret a wide variety of complex data sets using a range of packages.
  • Support senior managers by providing advice on data standards and quality.
  • Provide expert input into the development of reporting metrics, ensuring they reflect stakeholder needs and adhere to information governance policies.
  • Deliver key information support and analysis across the Directorate.
  • Present complex and sensitive information to a range of audiences within the Directorate and wider stakeholders.
  • Assist in the production of activity information, such as Information Requests.

This is a fixed-term post for 24 months. If an existing NHS Lanarkshire staff member applies, it will be treated as a secondment, requiring written agreement from their line manager.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Information Management in the overall management and performance of Information Services functions, including day-to-day management of selected staff.
  • Lead the design of user-focused management reports.
  • Produce accurate and timely regular and ad-hoc information.
  • Lead the information requirements for health inequalities research, epidemiology, and surveys.
  • Support the information management aspects of Capacity Management Activity within NHS Lanarkshire and ensure statutory information is provided accurately and on time.
  • Foster a culture of learning within the Information Services Function, ensuring staff are knowledgeable in relevant areas of NHS Lanarkshire’s business.
  • Assist the Head of Function in developing and implementing the eHealth Strategy to improve the use of information for core and non-core activities.

Requirements

  • Degree with a high numerical and statistical content.
  • Skills gained through a mixture of internal and external formal training, e.g., a graduate diploma qualification.
  • Five years of experience in Information Management within a healthcare environment, with at least two years at a senior level.
  • Specialist knowledge of the organisation’s information requirements.
  • Highly developed IT and information analysis skills, with in-depth knowledge and experience of NHS data definitions, information standards, and policies.
  • Theoretical knowledge and practical experience of managing a skills-based team.
  • Effective and confident communication skills to present, advise, and instruct analyses, procedures, and standards to a senior audience.
