#210.1 - Continuing, Part-time (.088 FTE) - Prep-Physical Education Teacher
Coast Mountains School District 82 is located in northwest British Columbia and encompasses the traditional territories of the Gitxsan, Haisla, Nisga’a, and Tsimshian nations. The district serves approximately 4,100 students across nineteen schools, including three alternate programs and a trades learning centre. The geographical area is equivalent in size to Finland, with communities including the Hazeltons, Kitimat, Stewart, Terrace, and Thornhill.
About the role
This is a continuing, part-time (.088 FTE) position as a Prep-Physical Education Teacher at Bear Valley School in Stewart, BC. The start date is September 1, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Teach students at all grade levels.
- Apply knowledge of the learning standards, curricular competencies, and core competencies within the revised BC Curriculum.
- Work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social, and emotional learning difficulties.
- Demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
- Relate well with students, parents, and staff members.
- Follow the goals and strategies outlined in the school and district framework for enhanced learning.
Requirements
- Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for).
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Benefits
- Salary as per collective agreement, with a current grid of $63,513 - $117,454 (based on 1.00 FTE).
- Relocation allowances ranging from $1,000 - $5,000 for teachers from other areas (conditions may apply).
- $3,500 Recruitment and Retention allowance for all teachers (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on FTE).
- Isolation Allowance for remote communities: Hazelton - $1,287, Kitwanga - $1,528, Stewart - $4,824 (paid over 10 months of the school year).
- Option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance as per the collective agreement.
Pay
Salary range: $63,513 to $117,454 (based on FTE, previous experience, and TQS Category placement).
