About the role

The central finance team across our European region provides a trusted front‑line financial support service. As a Finance Graduate you will be based in either Croydon or Cambridge and will gain a broad range of financial experience over the next three years, including work in Management Accounts, Financial Accounts, Project Accounts, and the potential to move into Credit Management or Treasury.

Responsibilities

• Management Accounts – basic accounting principles, big data analysis, corporate budgeting & forecasting, cost modelling, utilisation, and FTEs analysis.
• Financial Accounts – financial controls, KPI analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, consolidated accounts/year‑end audit.
• Project Accounts – working capital control, project & proposal analysis, contracted work & forward order book, project budgeting & forecasting.
• Potential to work in Credit Management or Treasury – cashflow forecasting, sales ledger management, engaging with stakeholders, working capital analysis, bank account management, liquidity management, bid advice (currency risk exposure), bond advice.

Requirements

• Less than 12 months’ relevant experience (excluding placements).
• Bachelors degree obtained no earlier than 2025 or expected to achieve a degree in Accounting and Finance, Maths, or Science.
• Demonstrate genuine interest in the opportunity and Mott MacDonald (e.g., relevant modules, work experience, research about our company, values, and projects).

Qualifications

• Qualified AAT or studying towards ACCA / CIMA, or a skilled numerate person looking to start an accountancy career.

Skills

• Methodical approach to problem solving.
• Good understanding of Excel with the capability to handle large data sets.
