2027 Tax Intern (Summer Internship)

About the role

The Amazon Global Tax team is seeking bar-raising Tax Interns who can support various areas of tax reporting and compliance, including US Federal income tax reporting and compliance, Cross-Border Withholding Tax, State and Local tax reporting, US International Tax reporting, and ASC 740 tax provision reporting. The internship provides hands-on experience and the opportunity to own projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support US Federal income tax reporting and compliance
  • Contribute to Cross-Border Withholding Tax
  • Assist with State and Local tax reporting
  • Participate in US International Tax reporting
  • Engage in ASC 740 tax provision reporting
  • Gain hands-on experience in controllership, compliance, and operational efficiency
  • Work autonomously and demonstrate strong analytical, technical, and leadership skills

Requirements

  • Graduate from a bachelor's degree program or dual degree/sub-matriculation master's degree program in Accounting (preferably Tax track) between December 2027 and June 2028
  • Able to relocate to the Greater Seattle area and receive relocation assistance if eligible
  • Able to complete a 12-week internship between May and September 2027
  • We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Able to work 40 hours/week throughout the course of a 12-week summer internship from May through September
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or dual degree/sub-matriculation master's degree program in Accounting (preferably in a tax track) with a graduation conferral date between December 2027 and June 2028

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of first-year accounting curriculum
  • Positive attitude
  • Prior internship experience in tax or accounting
  • Strong academic, leadership, and/or extracurricular record
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated track record in using data and metrics to make decisions and build scalable solutions
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate across different levels of an organization
  • Ability to act strategically and make decisions under ambiguity
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Pay

The starting pay for this position is listed below. Final starting pay will be based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.

  • USA, WA, Seattle - 80,200.00 - 92,800.00 USD annually

Schedule

The internship will be structured to provide students the opportunity to gain hands-on tax experience, as well as own delivery of a project end-to-end. You will be well-supported and have a unique opportunity to learn from and engage with very experienced tax professionals.
