About the Role

PIMCO, a global leader in active fixed income, is offering a 2027 Summer Internship for a US Trade Floor Operations Analyst. This 10-week program, running from early June to mid-August, provides exposure to the end-to-end investment trade lifecycle across Cash Desk, Middle Office, and Investment Operations. Interns will collaborate with various teams, contribute to process enhancements, and gain hands-on experience with AI-powered tools.

Responsibilities

  • Gain exposure to the end-to-end investment trade lifecycle through structured experiences across Cash Desk, Middle Office, and Investment Operations.
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Management, Account Management, Trade Support, Legal & Compliance, Operations, Technology, State Street IMS, broker-dealers, custodian banks, clients, and third-party platforms.
  • Contribute to technology-enabled process enhancements, data analysis, reporting, operational controls, and workflow improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree.
  • Must be able to begin full-time employment at a PIMCO office between January 2028 – August 2028.
  • Must be enrolled at a university during the Fall 2027 semester (August 2027 – December 2027).
  • Have a minimum 3.2 cumulative collegiate grade point average on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent) at an accredited 4-year college or university.
  • Business proficient in English.

Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and/or proficiency in Python, SQL, VBA.
  • Strong interest in financial markets, macroeconomics, investment finance, and the investment trade lifecycle.
  • Outstanding analytical skills with the ability to function efficiently in a fast-paced, time-critical environment.
  • Clear communication and effective collaboration across complex financial, operational, and technical environments.
  • Acute attention to detail and ability to manage multiple competing priorities with independence and judgment.
  • Demonstrated traits: assertiveness, ethical, collaborative, organized, flexible, high energy, self-starter, accountable, humble.
  • Ability to operate effectively when priorities or the path forward are not fully defined.
  • Recommended: Completed coursework in finance, fixed income, data analytics, and/or capital markets.
  • Curiosity and experience in using emerging technologies and AI tools to solve problems and drive better outcomes.

About the Teams

As a Trade Floor Operations Analyst intern, you’ll rotate through the following teams:

  • Cash Desk: Manages cash, reports client cash flows, and provides internal cash forecasts. Works closely with Portfolio Management and interacts with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Middle Office: Manages a key control environment supporting the trade lifecycle. Collaborates with Portfolio Management, Trade Support, Legal & Compliance, Operations, Technology, and external partners.
  • Investment Operations: Focuses on new securities, emerging-market capabilities, FX execution, claim resolution, and custodial oversight. Corporate Actions oversees mandatory and voluntary events, restructurings, and class actions.
