2027 Richmond 2L Summer Associate

About the role

The Richmond office of McGuireWoods is accepting applications for its 2027 2L summer associate program. This program offers unique professional development opportunities and a supportive firm culture.

Responsibilities

• Assigned a supervisor and mentor to introduce you to lawyers in your office and across the firm.
• Choose projects based on your practice area interests and collaborate with McGuireWoods lawyers across the country.
• Attend client meetings, depositions, corporate closings, trials, and appellate arguments.
• Prepare research memoranda and draft pleadings, briefs, and corporate transaction documents.
• Participate in special training opportunities, social events, and networking.
• Attend a firmwide summer associate retreat.
• Engage in the Pro Bono Mentor Program to work on a pro bono matter for a client.

Requirements

• Candidates must be enrolled in and in good standing at an ABA accredited law school with an anticipated graduation date of 2028 at the time of application.
• Outstanding academic credentials, leadership, and interpersonal skills are required.
• Candidates should demonstrate the firm’s core values: excellence, integrity, client service, diversity and inclusion, community, and collegiality.

Qualifications

Candidates must submit a single application to their preferred McGuireWoods office. If open to multiple locations, provide additional information in the free space at the end of the application. Include a fall 2025 transcript if spring 2026 grades are not yet available, and update the firm on your spring grades. Complete the Suited Assessment as part of the recruiting process.

Pay

The 2027 summer salary is not set, but the 2025 summer salary was $4,325/week.
