About the role

As a Portfolio Finance Intern, you'll work on projects that directly support the firm's financing, clearing, and cash management activities across global markets. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Optimizing the financing and clearing arrangements of the firm across various asset classes traded by AQR.
  • Managing cash and cash-equivalent instruments across portfolios.
  • Monitoring funding and liquidity conditions.
  • Helping maintain AQR's critical relationships with major financial institutions on Wall Street.

Responsibilities

You'll have opportunities to:

  • Work with large datasets across a range of asset classes and investment strategies to monitor and optimize AQR’s large financing and clearing footprint.
  • Gain exposure to the financing strategies and operational processes that support AQR's systematic investment platform.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the capabilities major financial institutions employ to support the different needs of investment management firms.
  • Gain exposure to the investment and management of cash and cash-equivalent instruments across global portfolios under internal and external constraints.
  • Collaborate with financing specialists, traders, portfolio managers, researchers, and technologists on projects spanning the investment process.

Requirements

We're looking for candidates who:

  • Are December 2027 or Spring 2028 graduates in a quantitative field (e.g., Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Math, Engineering, etc.).
  • Have a strong desire to work in the financial services industry.
  • Pursue either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • Show strong technical aptitude, including fluency in Python, SQL, and MS Excel (a plus).
  • Exhibit exceptional problem-solving and quantitative skills.
  • Display excellent communication skills.
  • Commit to intellectual integrity, self-drive, maturity, and the ability to collaborate.
  • Show detail-orientation and the ability to multi-task.

Qualifications

While not required, proficiency in:

  • Python
  • SQL
  • MS Excel
