About the role
Freese and Nichols has openings for December 2026, May 2027, and August 2027 for new graduates to launch their careers in various areas including design, modeling, planning, technical excellence, and business development.
Responsibilities
- Partner with others to complete tasks by collecting and correlating information to assist in completing projects.
- Verify information and adjust data as needed.
- Cookordinate project efforts with others contributing to the project as well.
- Design a roadway, highway, water pipeline, water treatment facility, dam, reservoir, or levee.
- Guide clients' stormwater and flood risk reduction programs utilizing modeling and design.
- Aid clients in planning for long-term water solutions and support communities in enhancing their existing infrastructure for future needs.

Our Practice Areas
- Transportation: Services in transportation planning, roadway/highway design, bridge design, engineering, and program development to transportation agencies, cities, and counties.
- Water Resource Planning: Integrated planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive, resilient water solutions for clients.
- Water Resource Design: Heavy civil infrastructure design – dams, reservoirs, levees, canals, and flood protection systems. Multiple engineering disciplines – geotechnical, structural, hydrology and hydraulics.
- Stormwater: Guides federal, state, and local entities through stormwater and flood risk reduction programs utilizing modeling approaches, effective design, and policy development.
- Water/Wastewater Master Planning: Enhances existing infrastructure for future needs through planning activities and analyses.
- Water Transmission & Utilities: Engineering and management support for water pumping and pipeline systems - pump stations, pumps, pipelines, utilities, tanks, and valve facilities.
- Engineering Support: All phases of a project lifecycle: planning/studies, design, procurement, construction, and post-construction.
- Water/Wastewater Treatment: Planning studies and plant designs for treatment facilities and provides construction phase and start up/commissioning services for advanced water, wastewater, and water reuse treatment systems for municipal, state, and federal clients.
- Facilities (Structural, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering): HVAC design for many of our projects. They typically work on buildings – warehouses, etc. Structural - Analysis, design, construction administration, and preparation of technical reports, plans, and specifications for various projects such as buildings, bridges (pedestrian and vehicular), dams, and water projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, Water Resource, Biological and Agricultural, Biosystems, Structural, Geotechnical, Geological, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering and similar programs.
- Prioritization of previous internships.
- Participation in a student organization such as a professional or technical society.
