About the role
Industrial Engineers at Raytheon apply advanced problem-solving techniques and Lean Manufacturing principles to develop and optimize factories, maximizing throughput, efficiency, and value. This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending significant amounts of time in and around factory areas.
An active and existing DoD Secret security clearance is required after day one.
Responsibilities
- Analyze manufacturing system performance to identify undesirable effects and opportunities for improvement
- Calculate resource utilization and identify throughput constraints
- Apply Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate constraints, improve efficiency, and meet or exceed cost, quality, and on-time delivery goals
- Create process flows, value stream maps, pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, and CAD drawings to graphically show manufacturing processes, material movement, information exchange, and key metrics
- Contribute to strategic roadmaps focused on factory expansion, manufacturing technology insertion, infrastructure improvements, obsolescence mitigation, and integration of new capabilities
- Partner with project managers and other functions to execute projects modifying factory footprint, equipment layout, and/or adding new capability
- Support competitive bids, factory proposals, business case development for future investments, and Make/Buy/Where analyses
- Participate in factory safety and ergonomic improvements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics
- Experience with CAD software
- Experience with project management
- U.S. citizenship (required for security clearance)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued DoD Secret security clearance (active clearance required after day one)
Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred majors: Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience or education in capacity/constraint analysis
- Experience or education in discrete event simulation modeling
- Experience or education in factory layout and work cell design/optimization
- Knowledge of Six Sigma principles
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical and creative thinking skills
Pay
The salary range for this role is $57,200 – $108,800 USD.
