2026 Extended School Year - Paraeducator (up to 23 positions available)

Responsibilities

• Affords assistance and participation in teaching, protecting, and providing care for elementary school-aged children.
• Carries out lesson plans and other curriculum provided by the classroom teacher.
• Participates in planning lessons, staff meetings, and professional development.
• Assists the classroom teacher in implementing age/developmentally appropriate lessons plans.
• Maintains an orderly, clean, and welcoming classroom environment for children and parents.
• Presents any notes, communications, or messages to the classroom teacher immediately upon receipt from parents or other adults.
• Interacts positively with children at all times.
• Maintains visual supervision of children at all times.
• Observes individual children daily and maintains up-to-date information in assigned portfolios for classroom teacher conferences.
• Maintains appropriate documentation for each child, as directed by the classroom teacher, including accident/incident reports, sick reports, daily notes, etc.
• Assists in keeping community areas of the building neat and clean, including playground areas, bathrooms, snack areas, common areas, refrigerators, supply cabinets, etc.
• Keeps all educational materials appropriately cleaned and sanitized.
• Participates in DCF Mandated Reporter, First Aid, and PMT training if required.
• Reports any unsafe or uncomfortable working conditions to the Building Administrator immediately.
• Works cooperatively with the teacher and provides a role model for children.

Qualifications

• ParaPro Certificate or Associate's Degree preferred.
• Prompt, reliable, dependable candidate with good oral and written communication skills.
