2026 Envision R&D Rotational Program – Track 1
About the role
The Alcon R&D team is looking for talented and motivated Engineers to join our Envision R&D Rotational Program. This program offers industry experience, networking opportunities, and the chance to make a real-world impact by working on meaningful projects that help patients and customers see brilliantly.
Responsibilities
- Extraocular Devices (EOD): Support for accelerated digitalization, including template creation, elimination of paper processes, and integration of current independent software platforms.
- Instrumentation: Work with UX designers to identify storyboards, translate them into applications on IOSSystems, and support the architecture, software programming, embedded systems, and modeling/simulation.
- Visualization: Collaborate with engineers to develop next-generation 3D camera systems. Depending on background, work closely with software, firmware, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering teams to contribute to various aspects of product development.
- Software team: Assist in developing or testing software applications for final use in surgery or internal development.
- Firmware team: Develop and test control firmware for 3D camera heads.
- Electrical Engineering team: Design or test Printed Circuit Board Assemblies for 3D camera systems.
- Mechanical Engineering team: Design and 3D-print brackets, harnesses, housings for visualization applications and industrial designs.
- Intraocular Device (IOD): Design, test, iterate implantable devices. Work on mechanical design, modeling, simulation, documentation, collaboration, project management, and statistics. Help build prototypes for testing.
Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Optics/Optical Engineering, Opto-Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Vision Science, Optometry, Systems, Aerospace, or related major.
- Graduate by December 2026 (January 2027 start) or May/June 2027 (July 2027 start).
- Minimum cumulative GPA 2.8/4.0.
- Demonstrated leadership skills (through extracurricular activities or projects).
- Authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis.
- Ability to commit to a 3-year, full-time (40 hours per week) rotational program in Johns Creek, GA / Belmont, Goleta or Lake Forest, CA / Fort Worth, TX locations.
Qualifications
- Pursuing an advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Optics/Optical Engineering, Opto-Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Vision Science, Optometry, Systems, Aerospace, or related major.
- Alcon Internship or Co-op work experience preferred.

Pay
Pay Range: $68,000.00 - $88,000.00 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, location, and internal equity.
Schedule
The rotational program runs for 3 years, with rotations every 12 months, and may be placed in different teams depending on candidates' backgrounds.
