About the role

The Alcon R&D team is looking for numerous talented and motivated Engineers to join our Envision R&D Rotational Program in January or July 2026 at our Johns Creek, GA / Belmont, Goleta or Lake Forest, CA / Fort Worth, TX locations. Responsibilities

  • Extraocular Devices (EOD): Work with stakeholders to eliminate paper processes and connect instrumentation/equipment with data repositories.
  • Instrumentation: Work with UX designer to identify the storyboard, translate the storyboard into application on IOSSystems, and work with engineers on System Architecture, Software programming, Embedded systems, and Modeling & Simulation.
  • Visualization: Work with engineers to help develop next generation 3D camera system. Depending on background, work closely with software, firmware, electrical engineering or mechanical engineering team to contribute to different aspects of the product development.
  • Software team: Help develop or test software application for either final application used in surgery or internal development software.
  • Firmware team: Develop and test control firmware for 3D camera head.
  • Electrical Engineering team: Design or test Printed Circuit Board Assembly for 3D camera system.
  • Mechanical Engineering team: Design and 3D-print bracket, harness, housing for visualization applications and industrial designs.
  • Intraocular Device (IOD): Design, test, iterate. Mechanical Design, Modeling, and Simulation work. Documentation, collaboration, project management and statistics. Help build prototypes for testing.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Optics/Optical Engineering, Opto-Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Vision Science, Optometry, Systems, Aerospace or related major.
  • Must graduate December 2026 (for January 2026 start date) or May/June 2027 (for July 2027 start date).
  • Minimum cumulative GPA 2.8/4.0.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills (i.e. extracurricular activities or projects).
  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis. Students on an F1 visa with CPT work authorization may be accommodated.
  • Able to commit to a 3-year, full time (40 hrs. per week) rotational program in Johns Creek, GA / Belmont, Goleta or Lake Forest, CA / Fort Worth, TX locations.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing an advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Optics/Optical Engineering, Opto-mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Vision Science, Optometry, Systems, Aerospace or related major.
  • Alcon Internship or Co-op work experience preferred.
