2026-27 Occupational Ther Asst - 10 - TEST ANNOUNCEMENT
Position Summary
Carries out individual or group programs of Occupational Therapy following specific outlines; carries out student treatment programs in such areas as sensory integrative development, enhancing and maintaining motor development, increasing independence in daily living skills, and aiding in formal and informal supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist; with assistance, plans and implements group and individual programs with specific assigned individual students and groups of students; and performs related duties as assigned.
Supervision Received
Works under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of an approved course for Occupational Therapy Assistants and certification by the American Occupational Therapy Association
- Either completion of a Pediatric Practicum or internship, or six months of experience working as a certified Occupational Therapy Assistant with children in an educational or rehabilitative setting
- Current certificate must be presented at the time of filing the application or your application will not be accepted
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Working knowledge of principles and practices of professional occupational therapy
- Working knowledge of the various types of mental and physical abnormalities
- Working ability to work with mentally or physically handicapped students
- Some ability to observe students progress and to prepare reports on that progress
- Working ability to stimulate the interest of patients in the therapy program
- Appropriate health status to meet the physical and emotional demands of the job
Responsibilities

- Carries out student treatment programs in such areas as sensory integrative development, enhancing, and maintaining motor development, increasing independence in daily living skills, and aiding in formal and informal evaluation of students
- Constructs splinting and adaptive devices under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist
- Orders and maintains supplies for the Occupational Therapy unit
- With assistance, plans and implements group and individual programs with specific assigned individual students and groups of students
- Keeps Occupational Therapy attendance records, records of individual programs planned for assigned students, and frequent progress notes on each assigned student
Exam Information
A civil service test will be administered to create an open entrance eligible list of candidates for this classified civil service position. The test is available for all qualified candidates.
- Weight: 100% Practical Examination
- Qualifying: 45 WPM
- A passing score of at least 75% is required on the exam
You will be notified via email of the exam and of the results. Once a list is created, it will be used for all Clerk Typist 2 positions that may occur for up to 1 year from the date of the exam. This posting/test announcement will create an eligibility list for any vacancies in this job title. The eligibility list shall be valid for one year after the list is established.
Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule
- 10 month position working 40 hours per week
- Pay range: $22.31 - $32.96
- Maximum hiring step = Step Five (5)
