2026-27 Lecturer Pool for Interdisciplinary Studies Program
California State University, Bakersfield invites applications for a pool of part-time lecturers in the Interdisciplinary Studies Program for the 2026-2027 academic year. Positions are temporary and may last from one day to a full semester, filled on an as-needed basis throughout the year. Applications are accepted continuously until May 31, 2027.

About the Role
The Interdisciplinary Studies Program seeks part-time lecturers for temporary assignments, which may include teaching courses or covering short-term instructional needs. Appointments are made on an as-needed basis and may vary in duration. This pool is active for the 2026-2027 academic year only; applicants must reapply for future years.
Qualifications
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Preferred: Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited institution and college-level teaching experience.
Pay
Lecturer salaries are prorated for part-time assignments and vary by rank. Full-time equivalent monthly salary ranges are:
- Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677 (anticipated starting: $5,507 – $6,092)
- Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224 (anticipated starting: $6,221 – $9,722)
- Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523 (anticipated starting: $6,825 – $10,674)
- Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211 (anticipated starting: $8,593 – $11,902)
Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a background check, including a criminal records check. Offers are conditional and may be rescinded if disqualifying information is found.
- Disclosure of any final administrative or judicial decision regarding sexual harassment within the last seven years, if applicable, after meeting minimum qualifications and before an offer is extended.
- Authorization to work in the United States; CSUB does not sponsor temporary positions.
- All faculty must perform work within California. Unit 3 assignments require an on-campus presence.
- Mandated reporter status under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and duty to report under the CSU Interim Nondiscrimination Policy.
