The Department of Physics and Engineering at California State University Bakersfield accepts applications on an ongoing basis for our pool of part-time lecturers. Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester. This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Applications in this pool will only be good for the current academic year. This pool will be closed effective May 31st. If you wish to be considered for the next academic year, you will need to apply to the new pool as it becomes available by June 15th.

About the role

The Department of Physics and Engineering at California State University Bakersfield seeks qualified candidates for part-time lecturer positions. These positions are intended to provide temporary academic support and may last from one day to a whole semester. The pool of applicants will be utilized to fill these positions as needed throughout the academic year. Applications in this pool will be valid for the current academic year only. For the next academic year, interested candidates should apply anew by June 15th.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Physics, Astronomy, Applied Physics, or Engineering Physics, or a closely related field, or equivalent experiences.
  • A PhD degree in Physics, Astronomy, Applied Physics, or Engineering Physics, or a closely related field, or equivalent experiences.
  • Prior teaching experiences at the university level.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with technology and instructional design.

Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology tools.

Pay

Lecturer pay is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Salary will be pro-rated for part-time assignments.
