2026-27 Lecturer Pool Department of Accounting/Finance (Finance)
About the role
The Department of Accounting and Finance at California State University Bakersfield accepts applications on an ongoing basis for our pool of part-time finance lecturers. Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester. This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Applications in this pool ad will only be good for the current academic year. This pool will be closed effective May 31st. If you wish to be considered for the next academic year, you will need to apply to the new pool as it becomes available by June 15th.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in Finance at the undergraduate level.
- Develop and maintain course materials, including syllabi, assignments, and assessments.
- Participate in departmental meetings and committees.
- Maintain active research and publication in the field of Finance.
- Assist in the recruitment and mentoring of undergraduate students.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, or a closely related field with an accounting concentration, along with a professional accounting credential (e.g., CFA, CFP, or CLU).
- Graduate degree in a business-related field with substantial industry experience in finance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Finance or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Prior university-level teaching experience.
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to teach effectively in a diverse classroom setting.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.

Pay
Lecturer. Anticipated salary range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. Full-time equivalent salary ranges are as follows (amounts prorated for part-time assignments): Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677 per month Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224 per month Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523 per month Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211 per month

This position is part-time, typically scheduled for one day to a whole semester.
