[2026-27] KIPP Pride High Daily Substitute ($120 per Day)
About the Role
KIPP North Carolina is seeking Daily Substitute Teachers to support our network of eight tuition-free, college-preparatory public charter schools serving approximately 3,000 students in grades K-12 across Durham, Halifax, Northampton, and Mecklenburg counties. As a substitute, you will play an essential role in maintaining continuity of learning for our students, stepping into classrooms on an as-needed basis to ensure educational progress continues, regardless of circumstances.

Responsibilities
- Execute provided lesson plans and ensure all agendas, objectives, and homework are displayed accurately for the class.
- Collect student work and provide feedback, if necessary.
- Embody and maintain the school’s values, policies, and culture.
- Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff.
- Enforce behavior management policies and ensure students always have meaningful work to engage in, such as study hall or reading time.
- Be present for arrival, recess, and dismissal to create safe spaces for students.
- Demonstrate a growth mindset and engage in giving and receiving constructive feedback with colleagues.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Demonstrated commitment to closing the opportunity gap.
- Zest, grit, professionalism, and a sense of humor.
Preferred Qualifications
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
- Experience teaching in a high-performing charter school and/or schools with a high population of students receiving free and reduced lunch.
- Fluency in Spanish.
Schedule
Staff school hours are 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Substitutes are called on an as-needed basis and have no guaranteed hours.
