Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP) North Carolina is a network of eight tuition-free, college-preparatory public charter schools educating approximately 3,000 students in grades K-12 across Durham, Halifax, Northampton, and Mecklenburg counties. Responsibilities

  • Execute provided lesson plans and ensure all agendas, objectives, and homework are displayed accurately for the class.
  • Collect student work and provide feedback, if necessary.
  • Embody and maintain the school’s values, policies, and culture.
  • Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff.
  • Enforce behavior management policies and ensure students always have meaningful work, such as study hall or reading time.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset and engage in giving and receiving constructive feedback with colleagues.
  • Support school operations by being present for arrival, recess, and dismissal to create safe spaces for students.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Pass a criminal background check.
  • Demonstrated commitment to closing the opportunity gap.
  • Zest, grit, professionalism, and a sense of humor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience teaching in a high-performing charter school and/or schools with a high population of students receiving free and reduced lunch.
  • Fluency in Spanish.

Schedule

Daily Substitute roles are called on an as-needed basis with no guaranteed hours. School hours are 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Pay

Competitive pay offered.
