Minnesota K-6 or 1-6 Elementary Education Teaching License (K required for kindergarten positions) or must qualify for a Minnesota teaching license. Native or near native fluency in Spanish (ACTFL "Advanced" rating required via InterviewIQ language assessment).
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate native or near native fluency in Spanish (ACTFL "Advanced" rating).
- Demonstrate English language proficiency for parent communication.
- Use Total Physical Response (TPR) methodology in an immersion program.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; adapt District-approved curriculum to individual pupil needs.
- Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
- Establish and maintain classroom behavior standards to foster an effective learning atmosphere.
- Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth; maintain timely records and prepare progress reports.
- Identify pupil needs, make referrals, and develop strategies for individual education plans.
- Communicate regularly with parents via Schoology, newsletters, phone calls, emails, and conferences.
- Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors in a supportive manner.
- Maintain and improve professional skills through meetings, PLCs, coursework, workshops, and seminars.
- Integrate technology into instruction.
- Perform other similar duties, including:
- Collaborative work in a fast-paced environment with students, staff, administrators, parents, and community.
- Support and communicate with administrators and staff; respond in emergency situations.
- Know, interpret, and follow District policies.
- Plan and coordinate work of paraprofessionals and volunteers (classroom and field trips).
- Provide input to the goal-setting process for paraprofessionals.

- Demonstrated successful experience in an immersion program preferred.
- Ability to apply appropriate skills in daily routines and operate classroom technology.
- Develop positive working relationships with students, staff, administrators, parents, and community.
- Maintain professional composure with diverse personalities and situations.
- Show initiative and function as a self-starter.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
