Qualifications

  • Minnesota K-6 or 1-6 Elementary Education Teaching License or must qualify for a Minnesota teaching license
  • Native or near-native fluency in Spanish (ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines "Advanced" rating required via InterviewIQ language assessment tool)
  • English language proficiency sufficient for parent communication
  • Successful experience in Total Physical Response (TPR) methodology for teaching in an immersion program
  • Demonstrated successful experience in an immersion program preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; provide individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the District-approved curriculum to each pupil’s needs
  • Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere
  • Evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports in a timely fashion
  • Identify pupil needs, make appropriate referrals, and develop strategies for individual education plans
  • Communicate regularly with parents outside the normal classroom day via Schoology, newsletters, phone calls, emails, and conferences
  • Work supportively and collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors
  • Maintain and improve professional skills through building/department meetings, PLCs, coursework, workshops, and seminars
  • Integrate technology into instruction
  • Collaborate in a fast-paced environment with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community
  • Respond to emergency situations and interpret/follow District policies
  • May plan and coordinate the work of paraprofessionals and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips
  • May provide input to the goal-setting process for paraprofessionals
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level
