Qualifications
- Minnesota K-6 or 1-6 Elementary Education Teaching License or must qualify for a Minnesota teaching license
- Native or near-native fluency in Spanish (ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines "Advanced" rating required via InterviewIQ language assessment tool)
- English language proficiency sufficient for parent communication
- Successful experience in Total Physical Response (TPR) methodology for teaching in an immersion program
- Demonstrated successful experience in an immersion program preferred
Responsibilities
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; provide individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the District-approved curriculum to each pupil’s needs
- Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere
- Evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports in a timely fashion
- Identify pupil needs, make appropriate referrals, and develop strategies for individual education plans
- Communicate regularly with parents outside the normal classroom day via Schoology, newsletters, phone calls, emails, and conferences
- Work supportively and collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors
- Maintain and improve professional skills through building/department meetings, PLCs, coursework, workshops, and seminars
- Integrate technology into instruction
- Collaborate in a fast-paced environment with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community
- Respond to emergency situations and interpret/follow District policies
- May plan and coordinate the work of paraprofessionals and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips
- May provide input to the goal-setting process for paraprofessionals
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level
