About the role

The English Teacher at North Canyon High School is responsible for supporting the instructional process, developing academic and skill-based student success, supervising students, and collaborating with other educators and administrators.

Responsibilities

• Administers subject-specific assessments and tests to assess student competencies.
• Advises parents and/or legal guardians about student progress.
• Affirms student progress towards objectives, expectations, and goals.
• Counsels students or refers them to appropriate school personnel.
• Demonstrates pedagogical approaches that engage learners.
• Differentiates classroom work to address individual student requirements.
• Instructs students to improve their academic success.
• Maintains a safe and positive learning environment by monitoring students in various settings.
• Participates in meetings and PLC teams to review data and instructional practices.
• Prepares written materials such as grades, attendance, and anecdotal records.
• Reports health and safety issues to the assigned administrator and relevant agencies.
• Responds to emergencies and inquiries from various sources.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a job-related field.
• A valid Arizona Teaching Certificate in the appropriate core content area.
• An SEI Endorsement.
• Continuing education/training.
• Criminal Background Clearance.
