Interim position at Pinnacle High School (0.2 FTE) from immediately through 5/27/2027.

About the role

The Teacher supports the instructional process by developing student success in academics (e.g., reading, writing, language, math) and skills (e.g., art, music, physical education). Responsibilities include supervising students, developing and delivering lesson plans, collaborating with staff and administrators, and communicating with parents about student progress.

Responsibilities

  • Administer subject-specific assessments to evaluate student competencies.
  • Advise parents and guardians on student progress, expectations, achievements, and methods for improvement.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
  • Collaborate with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes and meet classroom objectives.
  • Counsel students or refer them to appropriate personnel to address performance, health, or personal issues.
  • Demonstrate pedagogical approaches to engage learners and address individual student needs.
  • Differentiate classroom work to provide individualized instruction within established lesson plans.
  • Direct student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, or student workers to support classroom programs.
  • Instruct students to improve academic success through a defined course of study.
  • Manage student behavior to ensure a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Monitor students in various educational environments (classroom, campus, field trips) to maintain safety and a positive learning environment.
  • Participate in meetings (district, staff, departmental) and PLC teams to review data and instructional practices.
  • Prepare written materials (grades, attendance, anecdotal records) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
  • Report health and safety issues to administrators and appropriate agencies to maintain student safety and comply with regulations.
  • Respond to emergency situations and direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Respond to inquiries from teachers, parents, and administrators to resolve issues and provide information.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a job-related area.
  • Arizona Teaching Certificate with appropriate core content area certification.
  • SEI Endorsement required.
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Criminal background clearance.

Skills

  • Applying assessment instruments and curriculum/instructional techniques.
  • Operating standard office equipment and using pertinent software applications.
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate records.
  • Applying algebra, geometry, and technical reading/writing skills.
  • Analyzing situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate activities, lesson plan requirements, child development stages, and behavioral management strategies.
  • Scheduling activities, meetings, or events; gathering and classifying data.

  • Establishing constructive relationships, maintaining confidentiality, and exhibiting tact and patience.
  • Working flexible hours, meeting deadlines, and collaborating as part of a team.

Work Environment

The role involves occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and fine finger dexterity. The job requires 10% sitting, 40% walking, and 50% standing. Work is performed under some temperature extremes and conditions with exposure to risk of injury or illness.
