2026-27 Elementary Choir Assistant Directors, 2 Positions
Purpose Of Position
Minnetonka Public Schools has multiple elementary choirs for grades 3, 4, 5, and 6. There are two grade 3 choirs on the East and West sides of elementary buildings, and two 4-6th grade choirs: one auditioned and one non-auditioned. The assistant positions provide logistical support to each choir.
Assignment Details
- Dates: 2026-27 school year (September - May 21, 2027)
- Work schedule is flexible, but includes regular meetings with the director, attendance on concert nights (TBD), and meeting deadlines dependent on the ensemble's calendar.
- Two available positions:
- Select Assistant Director-Audition Choir, practices on Wednesdays at Clear Springs Elementary
- Core Assistant Director-Non-Audition Choir, practices on Wednesdays at Clear Springs Elementary
Requirements
- Scheduling rehearsal space, concerts, and special events.
- Edit the choir handbook.
- Schedule concert times, dates, and locations.
- Organize the choir tour of the elementary schools.
- Communicate with parents regarding rehearsal and concert dates.
- Organize the choir library.
- Attend rehearsals as required.
- Manage roster and contact information.
- Contact parents regarding absences and maintain attendance records.
- Meet with directors as needed to discuss the concert season.
- Manage audition sign-ups (using signup genius and Google survey/forms).
- Manage choir volunteers.
- Order sheet music, t-shirts, and other supplies.
- Keep track of and manage the budget.
- Schedule and manage choir party details.
Qualifications
- No musical training is necessary, but a love of music and/or elementary-aged children is preferred.
- Welcoming, assisting, and ushering on concert nights.
Benefits
No medical or dental benefits are provided. The position is not eligible for these benefits.
Pay
The wage for this position is a stipend of $2,690. Pay rates can be found in Appendix -f-, Schedule E of the teacher collective bargaining agreement.
