2026-27 AY Lecturer Pool - Theatre and Dance

About the role

Part-time lecturers are instructional faculty with conditional appointments based on enrollment and budget. Hires from the applicant pool are made when instructional needs arise due to changing enrollment patterns, shifts in tenure-track faculty assignments, or other factors that cannot be addressed with existing faculty. Initial appointments are typically for one semester, though occasionally academic-year appointments are made. Appointments may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance. Assignments—including dates, time, and modality—are determined by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean.

• Additional duties as assigned by the department

Qualifications

Theatre

Training in acting, voice, movement, audition technique, technical theatre practices, design, history, literature, criticism, multicultural theatre, musical theatre, puppetry, and film studies.

• Required: Bachelor’s degree plus the equivalent of at least five years of teaching or relevant professional experience.
• Preferred: Master of Fine Arts or doctorate in a relevant teaching area.

Dance

Training in dance technique, performance, production, choreography, theory, dance history, and dance education.

• Required: Bachelor’s degree plus the equivalent of at least five years of teaching or relevant professional experience.
• Preferred: Master of Fine Arts or doctorate in a relevant teaching area.

Pay

Initial rank and salary are based on professional experience and educational background. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges (full-time rate for 15 weighted teaching units) are:

• Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677 per month
• Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224 per month
• Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523 per month
• Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211 per month

A semester’s compensation consists of six payments of the pro-rated monthly rate. For example, a Lecturer A assigned 3 units at the minimum salary would earn $1,101.40 per check, totaling $6,608.40 for the semester.
