About the role
The Department of English at Sacramento State seeks qualified candidates for a part-time lecturer pool to teach courses in Upper-Division Literature, Creative Writing, and Technical Writing.
Responsibilities
- Instruction in Upper-Division Literature, Creative Writing, and Technical Writing.
- Class preparation, grading, and office hours.
- Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean.
Requirements
- Upper-Division Literature: MA or PhD in English literature with specific regional and/or historical focuses.
- Creative Writing: MA or PhD in Creative Writing with concentration in the relevant field.
- Techincal Writing: Master’s degree in Technical Communication, Rhetoric and Composition, English, or a closely related field, or Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience as a technical writer.
Qualifications
- Upper-Division Literature: Teaching experience in the relevant field at the college level.
- Creative Writing: Teaching experience in the relevant field at the college level.
- Techincal Writing: Demonstrated familiarity with digital documentation environments, content strategy, and user-centered writing principles.
Skills
- Ability to connect professional practice to undergraduate instruction.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies in writing workflows.
Benefits
Initial appointments are typically for one semester, but occasionally academic year initial appointments are made. Appointments may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance.
Pay
Ranks and salaries are based on professional experience and educational background. Initial rank and salary ranges are provided in the Position Details section.
Schedule
Courses are taught in person and meet two or three times per week during the semester.
