2026-27 AY Lecturer Pool - Communication Sciences and Disorders

Sacramento State invites applications for a pool of part-time Lecturers in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Hires from this pool will fill instructional needs in didactic and/or clinical courses based on enrollment, budget, and departmental requirements.

About the role

Lecturers may be assigned to teach didactic courses in the BS and MS programs or to supervise MS students providing clinical services in the on-campus Maryjane Rees Language, Speech, and Hearing Center. Course assignments, including dates, time, and modality, are determined by the Department Chair and College Dean.

Initial appointments are typically for one semester, with possible renewal based on department needs, funding, and performance. Appointments are often made just prior to the start of the semester.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom instruction to undergraduate and graduate students
• Prepare course materials and conduct grading
• Hold regular office hours
• Supervise MS students in clinical settings (for Clinical Instructor roles)
• Perform other duties as assigned by the department

Qualifications

Didactic Instructors

• Required: Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field
• Preferred: Two years of professional experience in the specialty area for which you are applying; experience teaching undergraduate or graduate coursework

Clinical Instructors

• Required:
  • Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field
  • 9 months of experience post ASHA certification
  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Current California License in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology
• Preferred: 2 hours of professional development in supervision after receiving the CCC-SLP

Pay

Initial rank and salary are based on professional experience and educational background. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. Salary ranges (as of July 2024) are based on a full-time rate (15 weighted teaching units [WTUs]) and are pro-rated for part-time assignments:

• Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677 per 15 WTUs
• Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224 per 15 WTUs
• Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523 per 15 WTUs
• Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211 per 15 WTUs

A semester’s compensation consists of six payments of the pro-rated amount. Example: A Lecturer A assigned 3 units at the minimum salary would earn $1,101.40 per payment, totaling $6,608.40 for the semester.
