2026-27 AY Lecturer Pool - Clinical Supervisor, School-Based Family Counseling
About the role
The Special Education & Counseling Division in the College of Education at Cal State LA is seeking applications for a pool of part-time faculty lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2026-2027 academic year. Positions will be filled as needed for each academic semester.
Responsibilities
- Supervise candidates in the counseling of children, couples and families utilizing strategies and techniques of family systems theory.
- Provide practical experience designed to enhance candidates’ clinical skills as family counselors.
- Supervise and instruct candidates on Saturdays from 8:00 – 1:00 in the Counseling Lab as they work with families.
- Commitment to the academic success of all students and fostering a diverse, inclusive environment.
Requirements
- Applicant must have an appropriate degree from an accredited university (bachelor’s degree and substantial teaching experience for lower division courses; master’s degree for upper division undergraduate courses; doctoral degree, or master’s degree and substantial teaching experience for graduate courses).
- Experience in coaching and supervising candidates in fieldwork.
- Knowledge of counseling and psychotherapeutic theories and techniques, including advanced counseling and psychotherapeutic theories and techniques.
- Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and substantial teaching experience for lower division courses; master’s degree for upper division undergraduate courses; doctoral degree, or master’s degree and substantial teaching experience for graduate courses.
- Experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
- Previous experience teaching at the university level is preferred.
Skills
- Ability to relate well to others within the academic environment.
- Proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.
Benefits
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The anticipated monthly hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Most new faculty lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
Pay
Lecturer A/2 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $5,507 - $6,677
Lecturer B/3 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $6,221 - $13,224
Lecturer C/4 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $6,825 - $14,523
Lecturer D/5 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $8,593 - $15,211
Schedule
Positions will be filled as needed for each academic semester. Initial appointments are typically for one semester, but occasionally academic year initial appointments are made. Appointments may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance.
