2026-27 AY Lecturer Pool - Clinical Fieldwork Supervisor
About the role
The Curriculum and Instruction Department in the College of Education at Cal State LA is seeking applications for a pool of part-time faculty lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2026-2027 academic year. Positions will be filled as needed for each academic semester.
Responsibilities
- Instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours.
- Make regular visits to the school site for the purpose of meeting with Teacher Candidates, Mentor Teachers;
- Formally observe and evaluate each student teacher a minimum of six times throughout the semester and meet with each student teacher following the observation;
- Complete and evaluate a variety of assessment measures documenting each student’s mastery of Teacher Performance Expectations;
- Observe student teachers in P-12 settings during school hours;
- Use and submit electronic observation forms and attend bi-annual training for fieldwork supervision.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of experience teaching in urban P-12 settings.
- Valid California clear multiple single or single subject teaching credential or equivalent and experience in the area to be supervised.
- National Board Certification and/or a valid Administrative Services credential or equivalent with experience supervising in the bilingual/dual language settings.
- Experience in coaching and supervising students in fieldwork placements for Multiple and Single Subject credential programs.
- Able to observe student teachers during K-12 school hours.
- Able to use electronic observation forms and attend bi-annual training for fieldwork supervision.
- Able to maintain positive relationships with school administrators and, teachers, and teacher candidates.
- A strong and demonstrated commitment to the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion with the goal of improving teacher preparation and public education.
- The ability to relate well to others within the academic environment and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.
- Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- California credential(s) or equivalent in any additional content area(s).
- Prior direct experience, mentorship, and/or professional development in new teacher mentorship or supervision.
- Previous experience supervising student teachers.
- Experience teaching in teacher education at the post-secondary level.
- Experience recruiting and preparing primary and/or secondary teachers.
- Expertise in educational technology.
Benefits
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary schedule information for the faculty lecturer: Academic Year-month Classification is available based on the following ranges:
- Lecturer A/2 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $5,507 - $6,677
- Lecturer B/3 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $6,221 - $13,224
- Lecturer C/4 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $6,825 - $14,523
- Lecturer D/5 Full-time equivalent Salary Range: $8,593 - $15,211
Pay
The anticipated monthly hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Schedule
Initial appointments are typically for one semester, but occasionally academic year initial appointments are made. Appointments may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance. Often appointments are made just prior to the start of the semester so some faculty lecturers may need to be available on very short notice.
