About the role

This position will provide instruction in Automotive Service Technology. The instructor will develop and maintain a curriculum that is current and relevant while providing instruction to students through a variety of engaging and real-world strategies. The instructor will prepare students to take and pass industry certifications required for successful employment.

Responsibilities

  • Instructing students through various methods (ie: modeling, visuals, hands-on activities, work-based learning, demonstrations, gestures, body language and thematic instruction) and using audio visual aids and other materials to supplement presentations.
  • Develops and prepares program curriculum, objectives, course outlines, lesson plans, assignments, projects, and evaluation instruments reflective of the industry. All curriculum should follow guidelines or requirements set forth by the state, industry board, and school district.
  • Objectively administers and evaluates assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests to determine student progress. Records results in student information management software.
  • Communicates issues (via written, verbal, and in person) and progress reports to parents.
  • Maintains discipline, high expectations, and monitors a classroom of secondary and adult students.
  • Prepares all program completers for state competency tests and evaluates students not performing at proper level by initiating a plan of improvement to meet state requirements.
  • Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, teacher training workshops, advisory committee meetings, student recruiting/promotional school events, and parent teacher conferences.
  • Performs related duties such as sponsoring CareerTech student organization events and competitions; assisting students in job placement; assisting with on-the-job training placement and supervision.
  • Aids students in developing soft skills and prepares students for employment upon completion of course.
  • Participates in IEP meetings when appropriate and adapts lesson plans to meet the needs of special needs students.
  • Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Must meet Career Tech requirements to hold or qualify for a Standard or Provisional Career Technology Teaching Certificate and have a minimum of two years’ experience in the occupation.
  • Three years of Automotive Service Technology experience in the subject field within the past five years is preferred.
  • Must hold a current OK State Department of Education (OSDE)/OK Department of Career Technology Education (ODCTE) Trade & Industrial Education teaching certificate, or be willing to obtain credentials.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Must have or be working towards Automotive Master ASE certification.

Skills

  • Language and Grammar Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.

Base Salary Based on Degree Level and Experience, Beginning at $58,900.00 (191 Contract Days) 7:30-3:00 PM
