About the role

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Technician to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our service department, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing a wide range of vehicle systems, ensuring every service is completed with precision and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and Repair Vehicle Systems: Perform complex diagnostic tests using specialized tools, scan tools, and technical manuals to identify the root cause of mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues.
  • Execute Repairs: Complete repairs on a variety of vehicle components and systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, air conditioning, and electrical systems, following manufacturer specifications and industry best practices.
  • Complete Scheduled Maintenance and Factory Recalls: Perform comprehensive scheduled maintenance services and execute factory recall campaigns, ensuring all necessary updates and repairs are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Customer Communication: Accurately document all services performed and communicate findings to the Service Advisor. Ensure complete transparency with the customer's vehicle issues and solutions.
  • Operational Excellence: Adhere to all dealership and OEM procedures for service work. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with fellow technicians, parts team members, and service advisors to ensure a smooth and seamless workflow.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques through ongoing training and certification programs. Share knowledge with junior technicians to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience as an Automotive Technician in a dealership or reputable independent shop.
  • Foundational knowledge of automotive systems, including engine, brakes, and tires.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of vehicle makes and models is a plus.
  • ASE certifications are highly preferred, with a focus on areas relevant to your specialization.
  • OEM-specific training and certifications are a significant plus.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and repair complex automotive issues.
  • Expertise in using diagnostic software and specialized tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • A strong commitment to quality and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
  • Ability to physically operate vehicle equipment and tools - must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently.

What You Should Have

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • A clean driving record with no more than two moving violations or DUI’s in the last three years.
  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Will be required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
  • May be required to work overtime and weekends.
  • Frequent standing and sitting with varying periods of each.
  • May at times require working different shifts.
  • Lift up to 60 pounds frequently.
  • Walk up to three miles each day.
