Location: Shadow Mountain High School – 10-month, non-interim position (8 hours per day, Grade 13).
About the role
The Accounting Clerk – High School Bookstore provides fiscal support for student-body and school-site activities, assists the Bookstore Manager, and ensures all disbursements comply with legal and district guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Collect funds from student events (ticket sales, yearbook purchases, club fundraisers, student class fees, etc.) to ensure accurate, timely transactions within established accounting practices.
- Compile financial information (gift/donation funds, capital funds, traveler fees, etc.) to provide required documentation and process information.
- Maintain financial records for student activities and events (ticket sales, yearbooks, dances, fundraisers, club activities, student projects, etc.) to ensure completeness, availability, and compliance with district policy and regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor financial procedures with individuals responsible for school-site financial operations (student activities, fundraisers, Bookstore, Athletic Department, student clubs, etc.) to provide services within established guidelines.
- Order school-wide inventory (yearbooks, sweatshirts, etc.) to secure items and maintain inventory.
- Perform general and program-specific clerical functions (distributing purchase orders, scheduling, copying, faxing, etc.) to support departmental activities.
- Prepare written materials and financial information (account status by club, activity ticket revenue, student fees, gifts and grants, general funds, etc.) to document activities, provide reference, convey information, and comply with financial, legal, and administrative requirements.
- Process financial information (ticket cash boxes, tax credit/donations, check requisitions, etc.) to update and distribute information, authorize actions, and comply with established accounting practices.
- Reconcile financial data related to student accounts to maintain accurate account balances and ensure compliance with established accounting practices.
- Respond to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and administration regarding student and site financial procedures to provide information, direction, or referral.
- Participate in site admin team meetings, in-service training, and workshops to convey and gather information required to perform job functions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Job-related experience is required.
- Must be able to be bonded and obtain a valid Arizona DPS Level I IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Skills & Knowledge
- Operate standard office equipment, perform standard bookkeeping, prepare and maintain accurate records, and use pertinent software applications.
- Perform basic math (calculations using fractions, percents, and ratios), read manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and present information to others.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices, standard office machines, methods and practices of office operations, and basic computer applications.
- Schedule activities and meetings, gather and classify data, and use basic job-related equipment.
- Work with diverse individuals, handle frequent interruptions, and manage detailed information/data.
- Attentive to detail, communicate with diverse groups, meet deadlines and schedules.
Work Environment
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; significant fine finger dexterity.
- Job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing.
- Performed in a generally hazard-free, clean atmosphere.
Pay
$15.44 per hour.
Schedule
10-month position, 8 hours per day. Start date: immediately.
