2026-27 - 5 Hour Cafeteria Assistant - Del City Middle School

Position Summary

Works within kitchen team to prepare and serve meals for Mid-Del Public Schools students following all program rules and procedures.

Qualification Requirements

• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required
• Foodservice related experience or training preferred

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Follows time, task, and rotation schedules assigned by the supervisor.
• Performs cleaning, serving, cashiering, and dish room duties as assigned.
• Affords assistance to co-workers and supervisor if and when needed.
• Works cooperatively with all staff members of the Child Nutrition Department, Administration Office, District staff, students, parents and general public.
• Follows Child Nutrition/District cash control procedures.
• Follows production menus and recipes to prepare quality products and control food cost.
• Ensures compliance with all Child Nutrition Department, District, local, state, and federal requirements, policies, guidelines, rules, and regulations.
• Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
• Frequently required to stand, walk, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Occasionally required to sit
• Frequently lifts and/or moves up or more than 10 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to or more than 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles
• Frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions
• Frequently works near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration
• Noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud

Supervisory Responsibilities

Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
