2026 - 2027 Winter Seasonal CDL Highway Technician 1 (Athens, Gallia, Hocking, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Noble, Vinton and Washington Counties)

Join the Ohio Department of Transportation, District Ten, as a Seasonal Highway Technician and make a difference in the great State of Ohio! We are hiring for multiple counties: Athens, Gallia, Hocking, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Noble, Vinton, and Washington.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on maintenance of traffic and flagging
• Highway maintenance and repair work activities (e.g., pothole patching, spread berm, repair guardrails, crack seal, litter pick-up, drainage)
• Vegetation management such as weed eating, brush cutting, and mowing
• Operation of heavy equipment (e.g., dump truck, loader) and hand tools (e.g., chainsaw)
• Perform snow & ice operations

Requirements

• Safety-driven and enjoys working outdoors
• Honest, accountable, trustworthy, and respectful
• A positive team player
• Formal education in arithmetic (addition, subtraction, decimals, percentages, fractions)
• Ability to read, write, and speak common English vocabulary
• 3 months of training or 3 months of experience in operation of basic equipment
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) at the appropriate level to operate motorized equipment

Pay

$22.29 per hour
