About the role

The Teacher of the Deaf will be responsible for providing instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing using Total Communication methods.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students based on their unique needs and abilities.
  • Collaborate with other special education teachers, general education teachers, and parents to ensure effective communication and support for students.
  • Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects and assistive technology skills.
  • Assess student progress regularly and make necessary adjustments to instructional strategies.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of Total Communication methods.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • A valid teaching license in Special Education.
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Total Communication methods and ability to adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 7:18 hours per day.
