2026-2027 SY - Educational Assistant - Heritage Language Program (5 positions)

About the role

The Educational Assistant will assist the heritage language teacher in the classroom, providing support with lesson assignments, maintaining discipline, and assisting with various duties.

Responsibilities

• Aid in delivering course objectives and lesson plans following state and district guidelines.
• Assist in implementing lesson plans, grading assignments, and maintaining records.
• Maintain appropriate files and records, including attendance and grade logs.
• Support students individually or in groups with lesson assignments.
• Operate and care for classroom and audio-visual equipment.
• Teach rules of conduct and maintain classroom order.
• Coordinate class field trips and cultural language program activities.
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work as directed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic principles of early childhood development, classroom management, modern teaching practices, and office equipment.
• Ability to operate standard office machines, communicate effectively, and understand and follow instructions.
• Experience: One year of related teaching assistance experience is desirable.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalency.
• Licensure: Level III Educational Assistant license from the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED).
