2026-2027 SY - Athletic Coach - JV Boys Basketball

Work Location: Crownpoint High – Winter sport contract.

Pay

$6,000.00 (fixed amount).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalency.
• Must hold or be able to obtain a New Mexico Public Education Department Athletic Coaching License (7–12) (details).
• Must complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam through the New Mexico Activities Association (www.nmact.org).

Qualifications

• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport (major sports).
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of basketball and a commitment to staying current with new theories and procedures.
• Serves as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instruction and actions.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success.
• Promote socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes.
• Upgrade coaching knowledge and skills through clinics, observations, and consultation.
• Work with students interested in basketball, providing practice support and advice for a successful season.
• Teach and enforce rules and regulations of the sport.
• Advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and principals.

Schedule

Evenings and weekends required; on-site attendance is mandatory.

Reporting Structure

Reports to the athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals.
