Pay

Minimum Salary: $6,000.00 • Maximum Salary: $6,000.00

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalency
• Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (7-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department (details)
• Must complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association (www.nmact.org)
• Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of basketball and familiarity with new theories and procedures in the field

Responsibilities

• Organize and supervise the JV Boys Basketball program
• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success
• Demonstrate and promote socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment
• Teach and enforce sport rules and regulations
• Advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and principals
• Upgrade coaching knowledge and skills through clinics, observations, and consultation
• Provide practice support and guidance to ensure team success throughout the season

Evenings and weekends required

About the Role

Reports to the athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in collaboration with the high school principals. On-site attendance is mandatory. The coach serves as a role model for student athletes through instruction and actions, working with students interested in sports to build a competitive team for the winter season.
